Sometimes, connection starts with a wagging tail.
First responders carry experiences that can be difficult to put into words. After a tough call, or the weight of many, starting a conversation isn’t always easy.
Through our work with first responders, we’ve seen how a dog’s presence can help people relax and connect. Sometimes that opens the door to a conversation. Sometimes a quiet moment with a dog is all someone wants.
Ranger’s future role is to help create those moments alongside trained peer support handlers.
There’s no pressure to talk. Sometimes, simply being together is enough.

A little about Ranger.
Ranger is a curious, social puppy with plenty of growing and learning ahead.
During his breeder’s evaluation, he confidently explored new surroundings, interacted comfortably with other dogs, and frequently checked in with the person guiding him. His strong eye contact and eagerness to engage stood out.
We’re excited to nurture those early strengths while giving him time to learn, grow, and enjoy being a puppy.
Growing into his purpose.
Ranger’s journey begins with foundational training, positive social experiences, and learning to feel comfortable in different environments.
As he matures and demonstrates readiness, our goal is for him to accompany trained peer support handlers during station visits, outreach, and appropriate support encounters.
His activities will be guided by his temperament, training progress, and well-being, along with the needs and preferences of the people we serve.
Ranger will complement the human connection at the heart of Frontline Hope’s work. Counseling, peer support, and other resources remain available whenever someone needs more support.
